The Union of Writers of Kyrgyzstan asserts that a legal assessment of the statements made by Syimyk Japikeev is necessary. The organization emphasized that Chinghiz Aitmatov and his works are a source of national pride for the people of Kyrgyzstan, and such comments are unacceptable.

In a statement published on social media, the union's collective stated: "We consider the words that tarnish the honor of Chinghiz Aitmatov and do not correspond to reality to be unfounded."

They called for avoiding the infringement of the rights of genuine Kyrgyz literature and national values, and also recommended that the relevant authorities provide a legal assessment of Japikeev's statements, taking public opinion into account.

Additionally, Deputy Gulsharkan Kultaeva previously urged the Ministry of Culture to respond to Japikeev's words.

We remind you that on January 16, a podcast by journalist Ernis Kiyazov featuring Japikeev was released on YouTube. During the discussion, topics such as "mankurtism" and Aitmatov's creativity were addressed. Japikeev, the former head of the State Service for Combating Economic Crimes, stated that Aitmatov's works could be considered "five-kopek stories" that do not inspire more.

He added: "I have not read the story about the mankurt, but it is not that significant. There are writers who tell incredible stories. For example, his stories about the first teacher or the collective farm are five-kopek stories that do not encourage action. After watching a movie with Bruce Lee, for instance, you want to repeat his tricks, to become Bruce Lee."
