A new toilet installed at the bus station in the city of Nookat, Osh region, has caused dissatisfaction among local residents.

Previously, there was no toilet at the bus station, and residents had repeatedly addressed this issue to local authorities.

According to the townspeople, the installed toilet turned out to be too cramped: there is "not even a meter" inside. They believe it was made in haste and does not meet basic requirements.

Nookat resident Tursunaly Azhykulov noted that the installation of such a toilet was perceived by residents as mockery. “We currently do not have a bus station that meets the requirements. We returned it to the state more than a year ago. Drivers are facing difficulties, and traffic jams are forming on the roads. Although the bus station area is large, there is no asphalt, not even gravel has been brought in. And they made a toilet — it’s embarrassing. Not even as good as what a poor person would have,” he said.

According to him, the total area of the bus station is 57 acres. “The area is large. Cars could freely enter and exit, functioning normally. But there are no conditions. People built a fence on one side themselves. The city hall allocated 500,000 soms, but there is no funding for the toilet and landscaping,” Azhykulov added.

According to figures mentioned in the video material, the toilet cost about 8,000 soms. The demand to create conditions at the bus station, including the construction of a toilet, has been raised multiple times, but it has not been fulfilled.

Due to the lack of facilities at the bus station, taxis and public transport are forced to stop on the roadside, which, according to residents, is causing traffic jams on the section passing through the city of Nookat.

Nookat Mayor Askarali Abdiyev reported that the installed toilet is intended only for temporary use. According to him, about 30 million soms are needed for a complete renovation and to bring the bus station in line with requirements. “The bus station was privately owned, and there was also a gas station on its territory. We struggled to return the facility to the state through the courts. Now, to fully restore the bus station, 30 million soms are needed. The city budget is 90 million soms, of which 85% goes to social protection. Therefore, there are no opportunities to implement large projects,” the mayor explained.

He added that a project for the bus station has already been prepared and submitted for consideration at the state level. “If funds are allocated, we will quickly build a bus station that meets international requirements. The current solution is only a temporary measure,” Askarali Abdiyev informed.

The project for the new bus station includes the digitization and automation of all services. However, the main problem remains the lack of funding.
