According to hunting experts, this video was most likely filmed in Russia. However, Kyrgyz nature and hunting enthusiasts began to question the fox's behavior: "Why is it acting this way? Is this typical for our local foxes?"
Opinions on this matter were expressed by Yuri Gorbenko, an experienced hunter and leader of one of the hunting groups in the Issyk-Kul region:
“Judging by the deep snow and the color of the fox, this video is likely from Russia. Our foxes have a different coloration, more akin to the 'color of the steppe,' although brightly colored individuals can be found in the mountainous areas of Issyk-Kul. However, it should be noted that foxes in Kyrgyzstan also exhibit cunning and agility. Personally, I have observed how foxes near the gardens of Issyk-Kul actively feast on fruits and berries in the autumn and winter — their stomachs were full of apples.”
In winter, the fur of the fox becomes especially thick and soft, and it is during this period that it is harvested, by trapping animals or shooting them, and less frequently using a golden eagle.
Ecologist Alexander Sosnovsky also commented on the fox's behavior:
“Foxes are predators that can eat anything available to them — from frogs to hares and pheasants. When food becomes scarce, they start eating insects and happily indulge in greens, as well as fruits and berries. Thanks to their flexibility and light build, foxes are capable of climbing to hard-to-reach places, including large branches of trees and shrubs.”
