To fill the quarry, it is proposed to use soil from the neighboring hills.
Residents of Bishkek report plans for the site of the quarry in microdistrict 12, where residential buildings are intended to be erected.
For this purpose, it is planned to use land located on the nearby hills to fill the quarry.
Local residents express concerns about potential negative consequences related to both urban planning and environmental aspects.
The quarry, located in microdistrict 12 (not far from Aaly Tokombaev Street), has been in operation since 1968 and is a significant industrial site where sand, gravel, and sand-gravel mixture are extracted. In October 2023, an area of over 60 hectares was returned to state ownership, and the city administration plans to use it for upgrading the road infrastructure.
A new Eastern bypass road (16–32 km) will be built on the southern side of the quarry, aimed at improving traffic flows from Kant. The project includes the construction of a 4-lane road that will connect the southern microdistricts (Zhukejeva-Pudovkina) with Kok-Zhar and Kara-Jyghach, as well as with Novopokrovka, featuring an overpass bridge and five interchanges. Work on this project is set to begin at the end of 2025.
Additionally, last year, plans were announced for the demolition of garages located near the quarry.
