The Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Junushaliev, announced the start of one of the important infrastructure projects in the capital — the construction of the Eastern Bypass Road. The city administration made the corresponding statement.
According to the information, the new transport corridor will run in the eastern part of the city, outside the densely built-up area. The length of the Eastern Bypass Road will be 16 kilometers. As part of the project, it is planned to build five major transport interchanges and an elevated bridge from the side of Kant.
In addition, work is planned for the construction and reconstruction of adjacent main streets, including:
- Lev Tolstoy Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (5.7 km);
- Akhunbaev Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (3 km);
- Sukhe-Bator Street — from Auezov Street to the Eastern Bypass (2 km);
- Zhukeev-Pudovkin Street — from A. Tokombaev Street to Imanaliev Street (2.2 km);
- Imanaliev Street — from Zhukeev-Pudovkin Street to April 7 Street (3 km).
As a result, the total length of the construction of the connecting roads along with the Eastern Bypass Road will be 32 kilometers.
The city head also familiarized himself with the progress of work on Zhukeev-Pudovkin Street — from A. Tokombaev Street to Imanaliev Street, where approximately 100 units of specialized construction equipment are involved.
The main goal of the project is to divert transit traffic outside the city limits, which will help reduce congestion on the central streets and improve transport accessibility for both the residents of the capital and the neighboring districts of the Chui region.
