Residents of the Talas region appealed to Jamil Jamangbaev, the ombudsman of the Kyrgyz Republic, asking for protection of their labor rights. The press service of the Akikatchy Institute reported this.
In their statement, 21 workers reported that they worked from January 5 to January 16 on the construction of a multi-story building, being implemented as part of the State Mortgage Company's project. However, on January 16, they were unexpectedly suspended from work without any explanation, and about 60 workers from another country were brought in to replace them.
The workers noted that no employment contracts were signed with them, although a work time log was maintained, and they have photo and video materials confirming their labor activity. They requested assistance in restoring their rights and re-employment.
The Akikatchy Institute sent official requests to various organizations, including the Labor, Social Security and Migration Ministry's Labor Legislation Control and Supervision Service, the State Mortgage Company, the regional prosecutor's office, and the Presidential Representative Office in Talas.
In a response from the State Mortgage Company, it was stated that this company is the customer of the construction, while the actual construction work is carried out by the state enterprise "Kyrgyzstroyservice." During the inspection, it was found that the previous company involved in the construction exited the project, after which the object was handed over to a new contractor.
After the institute's appeal, the new contractor agreed to hire local residents if they have the necessary qualifications and experience.
As early as February, the applicants reported that they were re-employed and expressed gratitude to the akiykatchy for the assistance provided.
