“We have started the construction of housing on certain plots, and within the framework of the renovation program in Manas, 561 apartments have already been issued. If a similar project is launched in Bishkek, the State Mortgage Company will also participate, as we are interested in the development of the capital,” Totubaeva emphasized.
It should be noted that at the end of November 2024, Nurdana Oruntaev, then head of the State Construction Agency, stated that the renovation program is planned to start in Bishkek in 2025. He reported that the government intends to demolish all buildings constructed during the Soviet era and replace them with modern structures.
In October 2025, Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev assured that the renovation would only be carried out with the consent of apartment owners. “This process cannot be instantaneous. We cannot demolish and build everything at once,” he said.
