The city administration of Osh intends to carry out a complete reconstruction of the village of Zhany-Maala, which is home to citizens of Roma descent.
According to information provided by the city administration, renovation work is scheduled to begin in early 2026.
On December 4, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev held a meeting with the residents of the village, during which he discussed key aspects of the upcoming project. Over the next year, as part of the renovation, the phased demolition of existing residential and social buildings will begin, after which new multi-story and private houses, as well as a school, kindergarten, medical center, mosque, and green space will be constructed in their place.
It is worth noting that the village, with a population of about 4,000 people, was annexed to the city of Osh in 2024 as a result of an administrative-territorial reform.
