In the city of Osh, a complete renovation of the village of Zhany-Maala is planned, where citizens of Roma origin reside. The city administration reported that the renovation process will begin in 2026.
On December 4 of this year, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev held a meeting with local residents to discuss the details of the upcoming changes and key stages of the project. Starting in 2025, the phased demolition of old residential and social buildings will begin, after which new multi-story apartment buildings, private residential structures, as well as a school, kindergarten, family medical center, mosque, and public park will be constructed in their place.
It is worth noting that the village, with a population of approximately 4,000 people, was annexed to Osh in 2024 as part of an administrative reform.
