As an example, Nurzhamal Torobekova pointed to the practice in Uzbekistan, where all couples under 50 are required to undergo a medical examination before marriage registration. Without this condition, documents are not accepted at the civil registry office, and the examination itself is provided free of charge.
The procedure includes:
- general blood test, glucose level test, examination for HIV and syphilis;
- ultrasound, ECG, fluorography;
- examinations by a cardiologist, endocrinologist, rheumatologist, as well as a gynecologist (for women) and urologist (for men);
- visits to four specialized dispensaries: psychoneurological, narcological, dermatovenerological, and anti-tuberculosis.
A certificate of passing the medical examination is valid for three months: if the documents are not submitted to the civil registry office within this time, the examination will have to be repeated.
