Currently, approximately 200 citizens from the Jalal-Abad region are in Saudi Arabia, where they are performing the minor pilgrimage (Umrah). This was reported by Erik Moldokulov, the authorized representative of the muftiate in the region.

He noted that the muftiate is actively working to ensure the safe return of the pilgrims to their homeland.

Against the backdrop of the unstable geopolitical situation in the Middle East, the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan has urged its citizens to remain calm and not panic. The muftiate promptly contacted the travel agencies organizing the trips to obtain information about the condition of the pilgrims. “The situation in the Middle East is causing concern for many. We immediately contacted the organizers of Umrah and found out that the situation in Mecca and Medina is calm, and about 200 of our citizens are there,” Moldokulov reported.

It has become known that the process of returning the pilgrims has already begun. From March 1 to 3, the arrival of 80 people is expected, and about 40 pilgrims are already heading to the airports for their flight back to Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, Moldokulov added that all other pilgrims and their leaders (Umrah-bashchy) have been instructed to closely cooperate with the muftiate to promptly resolve any emerging issues.

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan has called on all those undertaking the minor pilgrimage to be patient and maintain calm in light of the current situation in the region.
