Today, March 2, Adilet Orozbekov, the Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, held a meeting with the heads of law enforcement and security agencies. This was prompted by the current events in the Middle East, as reported by the press service of the president's administration.

During the meeting, important issues regarding the interaction of state structures were discussed, including those concerning Kyrgyz citizens who have found themselves in combat zones. Orozbekov emphasized the need for immediate actions to ensure the safety of citizens and their return to their homeland. He also instructed to organize round-the-clock monitoring of the situation in the Middle East until the situation stabilizes.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with determining the number and condition of Kyrgyz citizens in the danger zone, as well as considering issues of their temporary accommodation in safe places and, if necessary, emergency evacuation from the conflict zone.

Participants of the meeting noted that the operation of hotlines, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic missions for emergency assistance and consultations for citizens, should be continuous.

Since the beginning of the events in the Middle East, special instructions have been given by President Sadyr Japarov, as well as by the leadership of the government and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. This was reported by the Kyrgyz ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ulukbek Maripov.

According to the ambassador, the diplomatic mission maintains contact with every citizen, including students and pilgrims who arrived for Umrah. "A special headquarters has been established to work with pilgrims. We are conducting operational activities together with the Muftiyat, the State Agency for Religious Affairs, and travel companies," he added.

Maripov also stated that 35 Kyrgyz citizens in Bahrain have requested assistance. Round-the-clock communication has been organized with them, and measures have been prepared to provide necessary help in case the situation changes.

Regarding air travel, the ambassador reported that airports in Saudi Arabia are functioning relatively stably, while neighboring countries are experiencing closures. Domestic flights continue as usual, although the number of international flights has decreased. Overall, the situation in Saudi Arabia remains stable, and monitoring is conducted hourly.

If there are any questions or urgent assistance is needed, a direct contact number in Saudi Arabia is available: +966 58 376 99 45.

More than a thousand Kyrgyz citizens permanently reside in Saudi Arabia, most of whom are labor migrants and students. This was reported by the Kyrgyz consul in Saudi Arabia, Nursultan Orunbaev, during an online briefing.

He noted that the number of Kyrgyz citizens who came to the country for Umrah exceeds 5,000. So far, no requests for evacuation have been received.

The situation in Saudi Arabia remains stable, the airspace is not closed, but some international airlines are temporarily suspending their flights.

Earlier, the Muftiyat reported that about 6,000 Kyrgyz citizens are in Mecca performing the minor pilgrimage (Umrah).
