How to Eat Properly During Ramadan, Experts Remind

The Kyrgyz Health Center has sent recommendations to Muslims on how to eat properly during the fasting period.

Experts shared tips on maintaining health during daytime fasting and during iftar after sunset.

Following a few simple rules can help improve overall health.

First of all, it is important to pay attention to hydration. After iftar and during suhoor, it is necessary to drink enough water to avoid dehydration and support the body.

It is advisable to avoid foods that contribute to thirst, such as salty snacks, canned goods, pickled products, smoked fish, and food with an abundance of spices. Instead, it is recommended to increase the intake of fruits and vegetables, as they help replenish fluid reserves.

Starting iftar slowly is another important point. Rapidly consuming food after a long fast can be stressful for the body and cause discomfort in the stomach. It is recommended to start with water and dates, then move on to light dishes such as soup or salad, and only then to the main course.

Experts also emphasize the importance of balanced nutrition. The diet should include all major food groups: proteins, vegetables, grains, fruits, and healthy fats.

One should not forget to control the consumption of sweets. Excessive sugar can lead to bloating, digestive problems, and sharp fluctuations in blood sugar levels. Instead of sweets, dates, dried fruits, and candied fruits are suggested.

Specialists recommend a three-meal regimen during Ramadan, including iftar, a light snack, and suhoor. It is important that iftar does not turn into endless eating from evening until morning.
