Safe New Year's Table: Doctors Share How to Avoid Overeating and Poisoning

The Republican Center for Health Promotion reminds about important aspects regarding the "Safe New Year's Table." Specialists strongly advise following the recommendations provided to avoid health problems and prevent cases of food poisoning during the holiday.

Here are some useful tips from doctors:

Practice moderation in eating. Doctors note that a large variety of dishes on the New Year's table can create excessive strain on the digestive organs, including the liver and kidneys. Therefore, it is important to control the amount of food consumed.

Maintain hydration. It is recommended to drink enough water — about 30 ml for each kilogram of body weight per day. This helps improve digestion and reduce the load on the body.

Follow a proper eating schedule on December 31. Specialists advise having dinner between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. At midnight, it is better to stick to a light snack to avoid overloading the body.

Be cautious with salads and mayonnaise. Mayonnaise salads are perishable products. To reduce the risk of poisoning, they should be dressed just before serving.

It is also recommended to avoid dressing when possible and prepare salads in portions, keeping the ingredients separate. Storing prepared salads in the refrigerator does not guarantee their safety the next day.

Add greens. The New Year's table should include more fresh vegetables and greens.

Avoid fried foods. Doctors warn against consuming fried foods, as frying vegetable oil creates compounds that increase "bad" cholesterol levels and raise the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Prefer steamed and baked dishes. It is better to prepare main dishes by steaming or baking to preserve vitamins and reduce the load on the body.

Important! At the first signs of food poisoning, it is recommended to seek medical attention immediately.

Following these simple rules will help you greet the New Year in good shape and without unpleasant consequences.
