In the territory of the village of On Bir-Zhilga in the Chui region, in the Kyzyl-Suu gorge, activities aimed at the protection of chukars and pheasants were held. Representatives of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, rangers from the Tokmok Interdistrict Society of Hunters, as well as active citizens participated in these scientific-sanitary and biotechnical works.
During the conducted parasitological studies, sanitary removal of birds was carried out. The purpose of these activities is to study the epizootic situation among wild animals and to prevent the spread of infections.
As reported by VB.KG, the head of the Chui Regional Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the KR, Tilek Salikov, similar environmental protection actions are held regularly.
“We constantly organize such events. In the Chui region, there are over a thousand enterprises that pay for their impact on the environment. We collect these funds and direct them to environmental projects. In 2025, 142 million soms were collected, and in 2024 — 128 million. All the money goes into a special account and is spent on ecological initiatives,” he noted.
According to Salikov, the funds are used to purchase garbage trucks, improve landfills, plant trees as part of the “Zhasyl Muras” campaign, and other nature conservation activities. “One of our main tasks is to maintain and increase the population of animals, as well as to preserve the ecosystem in the Chui region,” he added.
Together with the National Academy of Sciences, sanitary shooting of individual birds is carried out, followed by analysis to identify diseases or parasites. In case of disease detection, biotechnical measures are implemented, such as adding medications to feed to improve the condition of chukar and pheasant populations.
The work is not limited to birds alone. For mountain goats, supplementary feeding with grass feed and salt is organized during the winter period, and in spring, a count of wild animals is conducted.
There are four hunting societies operating in the region, with which joint work is carried out to distribute quotas for sport hunting among enthusiasts.
Special attention is paid to combating poaching. In 2025, 125 cases of illegal hunting were recorded, with total fines exceeding 1 million soms.
Camera traps have been installed in the Ak-Suu gorge, which recorded three individuals engaged in the illegal shooting of deer. We became the first in Kyrgyzstan to use camera traps to obtain such evidence. Based on their materials, protocols were drawn up and sent to the Moscow ROVD of the Chui region, where a criminal case was initiated. The violators were identified and detained, and the court imposed a fine of 600,000 soms on them,” concluded Salikov.
