According to the explanatory note to the draft law, its aim is to establish the foundations of state policy for the preservation and development of the heritage of nomadic peoples, as well as to establish an international status for the World Nomad Games.
The document notes that the current legislation of the country only partially covers issues of culture, sports, and intangible heritage, and does not reflect Kyrgyzstan's role as a center for the preservation and promotion of nomadic culture.
It is indicated that the World Nomad Games, created at the initiative of Kyrgyzstan, quickly gained international recognition and became a significant tool of cultural diplomacy, contributing to the formation of a positive image of the country.
It is also reported that in December 2025, the rights to the trademark World Nomad Games were transferred to the state ownership of Kyrgyzstan and registered in accordance with established procedures.
The draft law proposes:
- to establish Kyrgyzstan's status as a center for the preservation and development of the heritage of nomadic civilizations;
- to officially fix the country's exclusive rights to the World Nomad Games;
- to provide for the possibility of transferring the right to host the games to other states in accordance with international agreements;
- to organize the Games every two years, alternating the host countries.
The adoption of this law will create a stable legal framework for holding the Games and ensure the protection of their name, symbols, and concept.
According to the authors of the initiative, the law will not require additional budget expenditures and will not lead to negative social, economic, or legal consequences.
We remind you that the World Nomad Games were first held in Kyrgyzstan in 2014 and became an important international platform for popularizing ethnosports and the culture of nomadic peoples. The next, VI Nomad Games, are scheduled for 2026 in Kyrgyzstan.
