In Tyup, there is an increase in meat prices and a decrease in the cost of milk. Over the past ten days, the price of milk in the Tyup region has dropped by 5 soms, as reported by local residents to a Turmush correspondent.

According to them, the reasons for this decrease are still unclear. During the winter period, the wholesale price of one liter of milk was 40 soms, but now buyers are willing to accept it for 35 soms for further processing.

“Every winter we rejoice at the rise in milk prices, but with the arrival of spring, they start to fall again. In March, the price first dropped to 38 soms and then quickly fell to 35. The reasons for this are still unknown. In stores in the central part, a liter of whole milk is sold for 50 soms. For example, 700 grams of butter can be bought for 540 soms, and 300 grams of sour cream costs 95 soms. At the same time, factory-produced dairy products are not decreasing in price, despite the drop in purchase prices,” residents of the Tyup region share their opinions.

The situation with meat is completely different: its price has risen by 20 soms. Sellers explain this by the rising cost of livestock in the markets.

“Mainly, in the district center of Tyup, beef is purchased, while the demand for lamb and horse meat is significantly lower. Over the past two weeks, livestock prices have increased, which has led to a rise in meat prices by 20 soms. Currently, a kilogram of meat costs about 690–700 soms,” local residents report.

It was previously reported that an analysis of the cost of meat and price chains at the regional level is planned in Kyrgyzstan. This was stated by the president of the "Kyrgyz Et" Association, livestock expert Bakyt Mamytkanov, on the air of a radio program.

He noted that the work will be carried out as part of a pilot project for each region of the country.

“In each region, it will be investigated how much influence can be exerted on meat prices. An analysis of the entire chain will be conducted—from production to the final price. Farmers claim that the price of 700 soms does not cover their expenses, but this is only their word for now. Accurate calculations need to be made to determine the real costs,” he added.
