Week-24. Corruption in 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' and the return of Kamchybek Tashiev
The results of the tax service investigation showed that over 4 billion soms were embezzled in the oil industry. Three main schemes were identified: writing off 20,000 tons of oil as "losses," using private intermediaries for processing at a state plant, and selling high-margin oil products (diesel and fuel oil) to affiliated companies.

The new leadership of "Kyrgyzneftegaz" reported that at the time of their arrival, there were only 1.2 million soms in the accounts, which barely sufficed for paying salaries.

In connection with the identified facts, the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case. The head of the State Tax Service, Alambet Shykmamatov, noted that it was previously impossible to check the company as it was under the control of the State National Security Committee (GKNB).

Tai-Muras Tashiev, the son of the former head of the special services, was summoned for questioning by the police, mentioned in the context of possible connections with intermediary firms. However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs assured that the questioning was not related to this case.

As part of the investigation into the corruption case at "Kyrgyzneftegaz," several officials and their companies were detained. Among those detained are the former chairman of the board N.N., ex-deputy A.R., director of an affiliated firm A.N., and the former director of another company M.B.

Chicken eggs in Kyrgyzstan: prices on the verge of gold
In Kyrgyzstan, there has been a sharp rise in prices for chicken eggs, which reached 130-170 soms per dozen. The Ministry of Agriculture explained that this was influenced by a reduction in the number of hens due to low prices in 2025 and seasonal vaccination. Prices are expected to stabilize within one and a half to two months.

The antimonopoly service warned producers against changing pricing policies and unacceptable actions that could lead to violations of legislation. After this, as reported by the agency, price monitoring showed a decrease in prices in markets and retail outlets in Bishkek by an average of 1-3 soms per piece.

The trolleybus system in Bishkek has been terminated
The Supreme Court upheld the legality of the decision of the mayor's office and the city council to liquidate the trolleybus system in the capital, despite public protests pointing to a lack of discussion and environmental consequences. The court's decision is not subject to review. It is unclear what will happen to the system's assets, including modern trolleybuses purchased with a $23.5 million EBRD loan.
