Residents of Bishkek are expressing concern over the numbered trees on Erkindik Avenue. Rumors have begun to circulate on social media and among city dwellers that these plastic tags may indicate an impending cutting down of the greenery.
In response to these concerns, the Bishkek city administration is eager to reassure the public. The city’s press service informed the editorial office of 24.kg that the numbers on the trees are not a sign of preparations for demolition, but serve to create a unified registry of green spaces. This initiative was discussed at a meeting of the Environmental Council.
Representatives of the "Bishkekzelenstroy" enterprise added that this idea received a positive response from the public, which suggested including all trees in the capital in the registry.

In this regard, the city mayor, Aibek Junushaliev, instructed the Municipal Enterprise "Center for Digital Technologies" to develop electronic maps, where each citizen will be able to obtain detailed information about green spaces.
Currently, work has already begun: "Bishkekzelenstroy" is conducting an inventory in all parks and squares of the city in collaboration with relevant services.
Each tree receives an individual tag, which serves as a kind of "passport" containing information about the species, age, trunk diameter, height, and other characteristics.
The city administration emphasizes that such actions will allow specialists to monitor the condition of the trees, timely conduct treatment and replacement of hazardous specimens, as well as implement a systematic approach to greening the capital.

The municipality emphasizes that rumors about the mass cutting down of trees on Erkindik Boulevard are unfounded.
