Who can enroll in school?
This academic year, children born from January 1 to December 31, 2019, and from January 1 to December 31, 2020, will be accepted into the first grade.
Children who are older than 8 years or do not have the necessary documents confirming their identity may be enrolled in school at the discretion of the child affairs commission.
Unlike last year, mass enrollment in the first and second grades will not take place. This decision was made after the first year of transitioning to 12-year education in the republic.
The enrollment process for correctional classes and special schools will be conducted in compliance with sanitary norms and rules, and only upon the recommendation of the psychological-medical-pedagogical commission outside the "Electronic Registration" system.
Enrollment campaign deadlines
Registration will take place in two stages:
The first stage will start on April 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM, and the second stage will begin on June 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM, if there are available spots in the chosen school.
Officials warn that popular schools in Bishkek may not have enough places for all children registered by microdistricts. It is recommended to consider choosing the nearest educational institutions to avoid long trips across the city.
School registration procedure
Registration is carried out through a personal account on the platform 1mektep.edu.gov.kg, the "Tündük" application, or mobile banking applications.
It is important to note that when enrolling in the first grade, testing, exams, or interviews to assess the child's knowledge level are not allowed.
What to do if the wrong school is chosen?
Parents can cancel the electronic registration (including to choose another school) no more than three times. After the third cancellation, further attempts will be blocked by the system.
In the first stage, parents will only see those schools that are part of their microdistrict. If the desired school does not appear in the system, it is advisable to contact the nearest educational organization to check if the residential address is included within the microdistrict boundaries.
Unable to find the child in the system
If preschool-aged children do not appear in the personal account, they need to be added manually or parents should contact the Ministry of Education's call center at 110.
Who can expect benefits?
There are special cases when a child may be admitted to school beyond the established quota.
Employees of educational institutions have priority when enrolling their children in the school where they work (beyond the quota).
If one of the twins (or triplets, quadruplets) is enrolled within the established quota, then their brother or sister must also be enrolled in the same school. In such cases, the quota for the educational institution is automatically increased.
What is the class capacity?
The quota for admission to the first grade is determined based on the number of fourth-grade classes in the previous academic year.
- If the actual number of students exceeds 42 per class, the quota will be 42 places;
- If there are between 25 and 41 students in the fourth grades, the quota will be established based on the actual number of students.
The director of the educational institution has the right to increase the number of places to 42, but only three working days before the start of the first stage of registration.
Can the language of instruction be chosen?
Yes, this option exists.
The school director can increase the number of classes with the state language of instruction, but reducing their number compared to the previous academic year is not allowed.
What documents are needed for admission?
After enrollment in the first grade, the parent or legal representative must provide the school with the following documents from August 4 to September 5:
- the original medical certificate of health status (in the established form);
- the original medical certificate of vaccinations received.
