Protection on Paper: Why Protective Orders Do Not Save Victims of Domestic Violence
Domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan continues to be one of the most serious social problems. High-profile cases of crimes are becoming regular, causing public concern, and statistics show a steady increase in such incidents. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, over the course of 11 months in 2025, there were 19,995 registered cases of domestic violence, which is 27.5% higher than similar figures for 2024.
