52-year-old Roberto Carlos was in São Paulo, spending time with his family, when doctors suspected the presence of a blood clot in his leg during a routine medical examination. Further tests revealed heart problems, which led to his emergency surgery.

According to Spanish media, the surgical procedure was initially expected to take 40 minutes, but complications during the process extended the operation to nearly three hours. Currently, the footballer's condition is assessed as stable, and he will remain in the medical facility for a few days for doctors' observation.

Roberto Carlos himself stated that he feels satisfactory and is under constant medical supervision.

Roberto Carlos is one of the most famous left-backs in the world of football. During his 11 seasons at "Real Madrid," he won four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies. He played 127 matches for the Brazilian national team, became a two-time Copa América champion, and won the World Cup title in 2002.
