According to the university, the patient was 50-year-old Burulkan Kurbanalieva, who had suffered from liver disease for eight years. The donor for the operation was her 25-year-old son. Currently, both the mother and the donor are in stable condition and are under the supervision of medical professionals.
The procedure was conducted free of charge. The surgeon who performed the operation was Bekzultan Seitbek uulu, a doctor from OshSU, who worked in collaboration with invited doctors from Russia. This became possible thanks to the initiatives of President Sadyr Japarov to develop transplantation and the support of the Ministry of Health.
On December 19, after the operation, Minister of Health Kanbek Dosmambetov visited the patient. He emphasized the importance of such complex operations for the progress of medical science in the southern region and noted that healthcare capabilities will continue to expand.
During his working trip, the minister familiarized himself with the work of the clinic, the International Medical Faculty, and the educational and laboratory buildings on the "Ak-Buura" campus, and he also met with teachers and students.
All necessary conditions for performing liver transplant operations have been created in the clinic. The operating rooms are equipped with modern devices, patient monitoring systems, artificial ventilation machines, as well as a resuscitation department where full post-operative control is maintained.
Previously, kidney transplants, heart stenting, and correction of congenital defects were performed at this clinic. The surgical department has completed 110 operations, including 20 cardiac surgeries, and 82 patients have been operated on using the endovascular method. Approximately 6,000 patients have received outpatient care.
