At the Research Institute of Heart Surgery and Organ Transplantation located in the Kyrgyz Republic, a highly complex surgery was performed aimed at bypassing the descending thoracic aorta and the infrarenal segment, along with the prosthetic reconstruction of the celiac trunk and the arteries of the superior mesenteric and left renal. This procedure helped save the life of a 15-year-old teenager suffering from severe vascular pathology.

The young patient was diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia affecting the abdominal aorta and its major branches, which caused him significant arterial hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Despite conservative treatment initiated in 2022, the boy's condition worsened in October 2025, and medications ceased to be effective. After the parents contacted the Research Institute, he was hospitalized for a complete examination, after which it was decided to perform an urgent surgery.

On October 29, 2025, surgery was performed to prosthetically reconstruct the abdominal aorta and its branches. Despite the high technical complexity and duration of the procedure, everything went successfully. After the surgery, the patient spent two days in intensive care, then was transferred to a ward, and his condition is currently considered satisfactory, with preparations for discharge underway.

Experts emphasize that such surgeries in Kyrgyzstan are performed only at the Research Institute, which is a leader in the field of cardiovascular surgery in the country. The institute is equipped with modern technologies, including ECMO machines and aortic counterpulsation systems, allowing for complex procedures across different age groups, including newborns.

Bekbolot Nurbulot, a freelance pediatric cardiac surgeon at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the chief physician for therapeutic work at the Research Institute, highlighted the importance of this operation and the role of the institute as the main center in the field of cardiovascular surgery. "This operation was extremely complex, and its successful execution was made possible by a coordinated team and the high level of equipment at the institute. We are glad that the patient's condition has stabilized and wish him a full recovery," he added, emphasizing that surgeries for children under 6 years old, as well as for children from disadvantaged families and orphans, are performed free of charge.
