A teenager was diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia affecting the abdominal aorta and its vital branches, including the celiac trunk, superior mesenteric, and renal arteries. This condition caused severe arterial hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Despite conservative treatment initiated in 2022, the child's health sharply deteriorated in October 2025, and the medications ceased to be effective. Due to serious concerns regarding the patient's condition, his parents sought help at the National Institute of Heart Surgery and Transplantology (NIIHSTO), where he was hospitalized and underwent a comprehensive examination that confirmed the need for urgent surgery.

On October 29, 2025, the surgical team at NIIHSTO performed a high-tech intervention for the prosthetics of the abdominal aorta and its branches. The operation required high qualifications and was lengthy, but fortunately, it was completed successfully. After the surgery, the patient spent two days in the intensive care unit and was then transferred to a general ward. Currently, his condition is stable, and he is preparing for discharge.
Experts emphasize that such operations in Kyrgyzstan are performed only at NIIHSTO, which is the leading institution in the field of cardiovascular surgery. The institute is equipped with modern technology, including ECMO machines and aortic counterpulsation devices, allowing for the most complex surgeries for both adults and children, including newborns.

Bekbolot u Nurbolot, a freelance pediatric cardiac surgeon at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and the chief physician of NIIHSTO, highlighted the importance of this operation and the role of the institute as the main center for cardiovascular surgery in the country.

“The operation was extremely complex, and its successful execution was made possible by the coordinated work of our team and the modern equipment of the institute. It is important to note that such operations in the republic are performed only at NIIHSTO. We pay special attention to helping children: surgeries for children under 6 years old, from low-income families, and orphans are performed free of charge. We are glad that the patient's condition has stabilized, and we wish him a speedy recovery,” added Bekbolot u Nurbolot.
