The National Center for Maternal and Child Health successfully completed an operation that became a true salvation for five-year-old Ailin, who suffers from a rare tumor of the duodenum. This was reported on the official page of the medical institution on social media.
The procedure was led by a team of surgeons under the guidance of Doctor of Medical Sciences Rasul Sultangaziev and head of the transplant department Mirbek Baizakov. The operation lasted more than four hours.
As Baizakov explained, in his twenty years of practice, he encountered such a large tumor in a child for the first time. The girl was brought to the medical center with mechanical jaundice and serious digestive disorders, which prevented her from eating properly for more than four months. Diagnostic examinations revealed a formation blocking the bile ducts and stomach.
The surgeons removed the tumor along with part of the stomach, restoring the patency of both the bile ducts and the digestive tract. "In fact, we performed three surgeries simultaneously. This was a case of the highest category of complexity," Sultangaziev shared.
Despite the high risk of complications, the operation was successful. Currently, the girl feels well, can eat independently, and the jaundice has completely disappeared. Tissue samples were sent to Moscow for further analysis.
"We hope that the tumor will turn out to be benign. The main thing is that the child's condition is improving," Baizakov added.
Ailin's mother expressed her gratitude to the doctors, noting: "After everything we went through, I realized that the profession of a doctor is a true calling. Thank you to the surgeons for my daughter's life," she said.
