The National Center for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood (NCPMC) has implemented a method of immunological testing related to kidney transplantation for the first time. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health.

This methodology includes determining histocompatibility between the donor and recipient using the HLA system (human leukocyte antigens), as well as conducting a crossmatch test to identify antibodies and calculating the PRA indicator, which reflects the level of patient sensitization. These studies allow for more effective donor matching, predicting the likelihood of rejection, and adjusting immunosuppressive therapy. This, in turn, helps to reduce the incidence of acute and chronic rejections and increases the functioning period of the transplanted kidney.

The NCPMC laboratory has already conducted HLA testing for a donor-recipient pair, the results of which matched those of the reference laboratory, confirming the high quality and reliability of the analyses.

Additionally, the NCPMC has successfully completed its 36th budget operation for kidney transplantation. The recipient was S.Z., born in 2009, who had been on chronic hemodialysis since June 2025. The donor was her mother, E.B., born in 1984. The operation was performed without complications, and the condition of both patients remains stable.

Experts note that the implementation of a genetic testing system has strategic significance for the country's healthcare. This innovation will reduce dependence on foreign laboratories, accelerate clinical decision-making, and increase citizens' trust in domestic medicine.
