In Russia, medical workers performed the extraction of a stone weighing about one kilogram from a 65-year-old patient.

Oleg Yakimov, head of the surgical department at the Balakovo Clinical Hospital, reported that such stones are extremely rare. In his three decades of practice, this is only the third such case, he noted.

The patient was brought in critical condition with symptoms of renal failure and intravesical bleeding. As a result, he underwent emergency surgery, as the stone occupied almost the entire cavity of the bladder. Currently, the man is in intensive care, and his condition is gradually improving.

Additionally, the hospital noted that after further examination, another surgery may be required to restore normal urination function.

According to doctors, the formation of such a large stone could be related to age-related changes in the prostate gland, which led to disruptions in the urination process.
