According to the agency, the patient was diagnosed with fibromuscular dysplasia, which affected the abdominal aorta and its major branches.
This condition caused serious health issues, including arterial hypertension and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Since 2022, the teenager had been undergoing conservative treatment; however, in October 2025, his condition significantly worsened, and the medications ceased to be effective. After the parents contacted NIIHSiTO, he was hospitalized, where he underwent a complete examination, leading the doctors to conclude that urgent surgery was necessary.

On October 29, 2025, the team of surgeons at NIIHSiTO successfully performed a complex surgery to prosthetize the abdominal aorta and its branches. Although the procedure was technically challenging and lengthy, the surgery was completed successfully. After the procedure, the patient was monitored in the intensive care unit for two days, after which he was transferred to a ward. Currently, his condition is considered satisfactory, and he is preparing for discharge, the Ministry of Health added.
