Following the inspection, the condition of the treatment systems was deemed satisfactory; however, they require modernization.
In light of the need for a comprehensive approach to modernizing outdated treatment facilities, an interdepartmental working group has been formed. This group will focus on inventorying and assessing the effectiveness of the existing treatment systems.
Group members have already visited the wastewater treatment facilities of MP "Bishkekvodokanal," where a technological process is implemented that includes mechanical and biological treatment, as well as chlorination followed by the discharge of treated wastewater into the Chu River. An unaccredited laboratory on the premises conducts bacteriological and chemical analyses. Although the current state of the systems is assessed as satisfactory, full modernization remains a priority. Employees of the Environmental Monitoring Department collected wastewater samples before and after treatment to analyze the effectiveness of the installations.
It is worth noting that in 2024, the Bishkek City Hall and the Vietnamese company SFC-JV signed a public-private partnership agreement aimed at the project "Reconstruction and Modernization of Wastewater Treatment Facilities." As part of this project, the implementation of modern treatment technologies is planned, including ultraviolet disinfection and the installation of systems for odor neutralization. The completion of all work is scheduled for December 2026.
