The first liver transplant was performed in southern Kyrgyzstan

The operation took place in Osh, where the donor was the patient's son

In southern Kyrgyzstan, specifically in Osh, the first successful liver transplant operation was carried out. The surgical intervention, which took place six days ago, was evaluated by the acting Minister of Health.

The patient is a 50-year-old woman who has suffered from chronic hepatitis B, C, and D for eight years. These diseases led to the development of liver cirrhosis, which necessitated the transplant. Her 25-year-old son became the donor.

The operation lasted over six hours and was conducted at the Osh State University Medical Center. The lead surgeon was Murad Navruzbekov, head of the transplantation department at the Sklifosovsky Emergency Care Research Institute.

Currently, both the donor and the recipient are under medical supervision. The condition of both patients is assessed by doctors as stable.

The first liver transplant in the southern Kyrgyz Republic marks a significant step in the development of advanced medical technologies in the regions of the country.
