Erlan Sherov won gold at the European Cup in Slovenia

The judoka from Kyrgyzstan, Erlan Sherov, became the champion of one of the stages of the European Cup.

The competition took place in the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, on February 14 and 15.

Sherov competed in the under 90 kg category, which had 48 athletes participating.

The Kyrgyz athlete was the top seed and began his journey from the 1/16 finals.

On his way to the final, he achieved three consecutive victories over opponents from Belgium, Lithuania, and Egypt.

In the decisive match for the gold medal, Erlan faced David Karapetyan, the 2020 European Youth Champion representing Russia.

Sherov won with an ippon and took first place in the tournament.

Additionally, Erbol Abasbekov and Khanbolot Yrysbekov (both in the under 66 kg category) also competed in this tournament, but they were unable to win any medals.
