Winter Olympics. Japanese figure skaters set a new world record for points
At the 2026 Olympic Games, the Japanese pair of figure skaters Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara won gold medals in pair skating, setting a new world record in the free program with a score of 158.13 points.

This achievement surpassed the previous record set by the Russian duo of Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Galliamov, which was 157.46 points and had stood since 2022.

Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara had previously been vice-champions in team competitions at the Olympic Games, and they are also two-time winners and silver medalists at the World Championships.

The total score achieved by the Japanese duo was 231.24.
