The United World Wrestling (UWW) published the results of the ranking tournament that took place in Albania.

This event was held in Tirana from February 25 to March 1.

For Aiperi Medet kyzy, this tournament was her first appearance in 2023.

She competed in the 76 kg category and won a gold medal.

On her way to the finals, the Kyrgyzstani wrestler secured three victories by early termination of matches against wrestlers from Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, and Turkey.

In the decisive bout, she was set to face Genesis Reasco Valdez, the reigning world champion from Ecuador.

Less than six months ago, both athletes had already met in the finals of the World Championship held in Croatia, where Valdez emerged victorious and prevented Aiperi from becoming champion.

However, in Tirana, Medet kyzy was able to take revenge, winning with a score of 5:4.

As a result of the tournament, UWW recognized Aiperi Medet kyzy as the best female wrestler for February.

Additionally, the top honors in other categories went to Sujit Kalkal from India (freestyle wrestling) and Koto Gomi from Japan (Greco-Roman wrestling).
