
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Boris Podkorytov, a renowned football player and honored coach of the Kyrgyz SSR, who passed away at the age of 77. The information was provided by the Kyrgyz Football Union.
Boris Podkorytov, born on May 3, 1948, in Frunze, began his football training under the guidance of children's coach Vladimir Korobchenko. In 1966, he was noticed after the final of the all-Union youth tournament, which led to an invitation to the experimental USSR national team preparing for the Olympic Games in Mexico City.
Throughout his playing career, he played for Moscow's "Lokomotiv" and Frunze's "Alga," where he served as team captain.
After retiring as a player, Boris Podkorytov shifted to coaching. In 1980, he became the head coach of "Alga," and later worked abroad, particularly in Algeria, where in 1988 he led one of the local clubs to a championship title.
At various times, Podkorytov coached clubs in Kazakhstan and was part of the coaching staff of the national team. Upon returning to Kyrgyzstan, he worked with "Dordoi-Dynamo," with which he repeatedly won the championship and the Cup of Kyrgyzstan. The team also won the AFC President's Cup twice in 2006 and 2007.
In 2006, he headed the national team of Kyrgyzstan, later serving as the general director of "Dordoi-Dynamo" and working as a consultant coach for the national team.
