Income from ecotourism in specially protected natural areas of Kyrgyzstan doubled in 2025, - Ministry of Natural Resources

According to the results of 2025, the protected areas of Kyrgyzstan have shown outstanding results in financial and operational activities, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources.

The Ministry informs that revenues from tourism activities amounted to 37.7 million soms, which is more than double the figures of 2024, when the amount was 18.3 million soms. Thus, the revenues of specially protected natural areas (SPNAs) increased by 105% compared to last year.

During the reporting period, the state reserves and parks of the country were visited by 271,254 people, which is 24% more compared to previous years. Notably, a significant portion of the visitors are domestic tourists (250.5 thousand citizens of Kyrgyzstan), while interest from foreign guests from CIS countries and distant abroad also remains stable.

Along with the growth of ecotourism, there has been an increase in the control over compliance with environmental legislation. Over the year, 139 violations were recorded, with a total damage amounting to 1.1 million soms. Most of these incidents (70%) are related to violations in the area of vegetation protection. Currently, funds for 78 cases have already been recovered into the budget, while the remaining materials are in the process of judicial and administrative proceedings.
