On October 31, 2025, the Federation of Mountaineering of Kyrgyzstan and the Federation of Sports Tourism of Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on friendship and cooperation. This was reported by Vladimir Agafonov, president of the Federation of Sports Tourism.
According to Agafonov, this event represents a significant step that opens new horizons in the development of mountain sports in the country and unites the resources and experience of the two leading federations.
“The signed agreement, initiated by the chairpersons of the two federations – Eduard Kubatov and Vladimir Agafonov, symbolizes strategic partnership and unity in promoting mountain sports and active tourism in Kyrgyzstan,” the statement notes.
Previously, mountaineering and sports tourism developed independently of each other, but now joint efforts will elevate this field to a new level.
The federations plan joint activities such as international festivals, expeditions, construction of mountain shelters, and marking of tourist routes. They will also include the training of instructors, rescuers, and guides, as well as the exchange of best practices in training.
Thanks to its unique natural environment, Kyrgyzstan can take one of the leading positions in the field of mountaineering, trekking, and adventure tourism.
The creation of a unified system for training young athletes and conducting youth competitions will form the basis for the development of a new generation of professionals in this field.
