In a recent interview with the news agency "Kabar," President Sadyr Japarov spoke about the establishment of "Berekett Bank," noting that it became possible thanks to the proposal from Changpeng Zhao, the founder of Binance. According to the president, the opening of the bank is aimed at attracting significant investments to the country.
-Hello, Sadyr Nurgoyoevich! Last week, news emerged that among the founders of "Berekett Bank" is your son Nurdooolot Nurgoyoev, along with former speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Marat Sultanov.
Society reacted to this news in different ways: some believe that there is nothing wrong in the absence of state connections, while others think that relatives should not be involved in business. Does the bank have any relation to your family?
-This is an important question that is currently being actively discussed. I will answer it in detail, as we have nothing to hide.
Firstly, I have been in the position of president for over five years, and during this time, I have not involved any family members or brothers in state activities. I believe that one politician in the family is enough.
I have always told my relatives: engage in business, open new enterprises, and attract foreign investors to the country.
Fortunately, they have heard me and do not interfere in state affairs. Our people notice this.
In the future, they also do not plan to participate in state governance. None of them aspire to become a minister or a deputy, although they could, as elections are conducted by the people. But they do not do this.
Everyone is engaged in private business and attracting investors.
I always tell them:
“Do not send money abroad; on the contrary, attract it to Kyrgyzstan.”
If I were to start listing all the investors that my relatives have attracted, it would look like self-promotion, so I will refrain from doing so for now.
When my presidential term ends, I will talk about my brothers' projects and how much investment they have brought to the country. This will be visible to the entire nation.
As for the bank, the world is rapidly transitioning to digital assets.
In May of this year, when Changpeng Zhao visited us, he proposed creating a digital bank.
I suggested making it state-owned, but he showed no interest in state projects.
After that, we decided to open a private bank. I invited Marat Sultanov as an experienced banker to address organizational issues.
Changpeng Zhao and Marat Abdrzakovich suggested including Nurdooolot in the project.
After discussions, I agreed, as the state is not involved in this. Let my son gain experience by interacting with professionals; this is better than if they were engaged in state affairs.
It is important to note that Changpeng Zhao does not visit every country.
Firstly, we have established friendly relations; secondly, he sees that Kyrgyzstan is developing and actively fighting corruption, which attracts his interest. Many countries try to invite him, but unsuccessfully. Thanks to his visit to Kyrgyzstan and the opening of this bank, multibillion-dollar investments will flow into the country. Other investors will also participate in the project. This will benefit both the state and the people.
-Will this bank operate like other banks?
-Yes, it will function like a regular bank, but with an emphasis on virtual assets and digital currencies.
-Does your son have education and experience in this field?
-As I mentioned, I do not involve my children in politics. Therefore, both Rustam and Nurdooolot have received education in economics and finance. Of course, he does not have much experience yet, but I am confident that he will gain it over time. Young people quickly master new fields.
The main thing is not to worry. This initiative will only benefit the people of Kyrgyzstan: incomes will be shared with the population, assistance will be provided to orphans and those in need, social facilities will be built, and much more.
