Chairman of the GKNB shared his opinion on the fight against corruption in the country
In an interview with the "Region" TV channel, Kamchybek Tashiev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the GKNB, admitted that many did not believe in the sincerity of the fight against corruption in Kyrgyzstan.
“At first, people were puzzled. They said it was impossible for Tashiev not to take money. They were brought in boxes. However, all those responsible were held accountable. Society began to realize our goal – to eradicate corruption. We will not stop at what we have achieved and will complete what we started,” Tashiev emphasized.
The head of the special service also urged to ignore international corruption ratings.
“Political factors often play a role in these ratings. Some organizations may themselves be corrupt or subject to politicization. Therefore, they underestimate Kyrgyzstan's position in their lists. But our country has changed significantly. The comparison of Kyrgyzstan before 2020 and after that period clearly shows the difference. Yes, individual cases of corruption still occur, but we strive to eliminate them. The law and our actions will contribute to this. By 2026, we intend to minimize the level of corruption in the republic,” Kamchybek Tashiev set the task.
