At-Bashy Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Musician Joloman Choroев with Archival Photographs

At the House of Culture named after S. Andabekov, located in the At-Bashy district of the Naryn region, an evening dedicated to the centenary anniversary of Zholoman Chorobaev took place. He was not only a participant in the Great Patriotic War but also a composer, performer, and komuz player.

Representatives of the state district administration, the presidential representative office in the Naryn region, as well as contemporaries and admirers of Chorobaev's work, including cultural figures and local residents, attended the event.

Zholoman Chorobaev was born in 1925 in the village of Bash-Kaiyndy. For many years, he worked at the district House of Culture in At-Bashy, holding various positions, including artist, instructor, artistic director, and director. His mastery of playing the "temir ooz komuz" [iron-lipped komuz], "zhygach ooz komuz" [wooden-lipped komuz], bayan, and other folk instruments testified to his outstanding talent.

Throughout his creative career, he wrote over 60 songs and 6 melodies that became part of the treasure trove of Kyrgyz musical culture. In his honor, one of the streets in At-Bashy bears his name.

Today, his legacy is carefully preserved by 13 children, 37 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, forming his large family. The music of Zholoman Chorobaev continues to be an important part of Kyrgyz folk art.
