- In the Talas region, where work is underway to lay a concrete surface on the "Big Canal," supervised by the Talas Main Water Management Department, information has been received from the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The length of the canal is 8 kilometers, and it will provide irrigation water to 2400 hectares of agricultural land. This project is of strategic importance for increasing crop yields and agricultural productivity in the region. Currently, the laying of the concrete surface on a 2.5-kilometer section is being carried out according to the established schedule.

According to the Talas Main Water Management Department, the completion of the project will lead to a significant reduction in water losses and an improvement in the efficiency of irrigation resource use. Strengthening the canal guarantees its durability and will support local farmers.

Experts emphasize that the new technology, which includes the use of geomembranes and geotextiles, as well as cement, is designed for a lifespan of 60 to 70 years.

The main task of this work is to reduce irrigation water losses, modernize the irrigation system, and increase agricultural crop yields.
