According to the organizers, the event gathered participants from the public sector, universities, international organizations, as well as IT companies and young engineers from across the country.
The opening ceremony was attended by the rector of KGTU, Mirlan Chynybaev, the Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovations, Kemel Sadikov, the Ambassador of Korea to Kyrgyzstan, Kim Kwang-dje, the president of SIFO, Lee Song-joo, and the director of FabLab Bishkek, Ju Song-jong (Ju Serena).
The forum opened a series of presentations and discussions dedicated to issues of digital technologies and the implementation of innovative solutions in the fields of education and industry.
The keynote speech on "Artificial Intelligence and the Latest Digital Technologies" was presented by Lee Kan-son, the CEO of Automestellsta.
Lee Kan-son emphasized: "Modern technologies and artificial intelligence create new opportunities for digital transformation in industry. The active participation of young engineers and startups in developing innovations that will define the future of high-tech sectors is key."
Dinara Cherikova, director of the Bishkek Ecological Fund, PhD in Economics, associate professor, also delivered a presentation on "Prospects for the Development of the Association of Digital Manufacturing of Kyrgyzstan: From FabLab to a National Innovation Ecosystem."
She noted: "FabLab Bishkek has become the core of a sustainable business ecosystem that supports startups in practice and unites students, teachers, and young engineers. Each initiative turns into a real contribution to the development of digital manufacturing in Kyrgyzstan, shaping the future of the country's technological ecosystem."
After the main block of presentations, a panel discussion took place, moderated by Ju Song-jong, director of FabLab Bishkek. The discussion included:
- Asylbek Junusov — head of the AI and Innovative Technologies Development Sector;
- Gulnara Kabaeva — director of the Institute of Information Technologies at KGTU, professor;
- Tyinymbek kyzy Nurzat — head of the Future Ecosystem Department at the High Technology Park;
- Lee Won-son — expert from the Korean Agency for Technology Development.
Experts discussed issues of digital transformation, the implementation of innovative technologies in education and industry, as well as the role of universities and startups in creating a sustainable technological ecosystem and opportunities for international cooperation to support talented youth.
Additionally, as part of the forum, the FabLab Bishkek Makerthon 2025 took place, where young engineers and research teams presented their digital projects to the jury. In the final, prototypes aimed at solving social, educational, environmental, and technological challenges were showcased, such as:
- Smart sign language translator
- EduSphere (educational platform), Digital Heritage, Smart Environmental Stickers, Guard Eye — fire detection system, AI gesture translator, Firefighting Robot, Earthquake Sensor, LightPath — navigator for visually impaired individuals
- The OZONIX project became the winner of the FabLab Bishkek business incubation program, receiving $5,000 for technology that extends the shelf life of perishable products using ozone, humidity control, and ultraviolet light. This development aims to reduce food waste, increase farmers' profitability, and improve food security in the region.
Teams that placed in the Makerthon received cash prizes:
- 1st place — $1,000
- 2nd place — $700
- 3rd place — $300
The FabLab Bishkek and KGTU exhibition continues to operate in the main lobby of the university, providing an opportunity to explore unique digital projects, prototypes, and engineering solutions from students and young professionals.
The forum and Makerthon have become an important platform for experience exchange, supporting startups, and creating new directions for the development of Kyrgyzstan's digital ecosystem, opening new horizons for talented youth and the country's innovative economy.
