The Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation has proposed to abandon the practice of penalizing students for absences from classes and internships in universities and colleges, regardless of their form of ownership.

According to information from the ministry's press service, this initiative is aimed at protecting students' rights and creating fair standards regarding academic discipline, as well as preventing unjustified financial penalties in the educational environment.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Science advises applying alternative academic measures that are not related to financial sanctions, in accordance with current legislation.

As part of the implementation of this initiative, the ministry plans to amend the regulations governing the activities of higher education and secondary vocational education institutions.

Previously, the issue of financial penalties for students due to absences was raised by several deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh. Acting Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation Gulzat Isamatova agreed with the deputies' opinion, noting that it is incorrect and that academic disciplinary measures, such as make-up work, should be applied.
