In Kyrgyzstan, the government intends to introduce restrictions on the admission of foreign students to medical universities. The corresponding draft resolution has been published for public discussion.

The Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations reminds that the president has already instructed to develop measures to prevent the admission of foreign citizens with unverified or questionable documents to medical educational institutions.

According to the new proposals, the possibility of transferring to higher courses will be excluded, as well as the recognition of partially completed educational programs obtained in foreign educational institutions, regardless of the format of the provided documents.

As stated in the justification note, "in recent years, there has been an increase in requests from foreign students from overseas educational institutions for transfer to medical programs of Kyrgyz universities to higher courses. Practice has shown that the programs and conditions of study in foreign institutions, especially in the field of medicine, differ in content, volume of study hours, and practical skills. These differences hinder the achievement of a unified level of professional training and negatively affect the quality of medical services provided by graduates."

The ministry emphasizes that the adoption of the norm regarding the admission of foreign students only from the first year is aimed at ensuring unified standards in medical education and excluding partial recognition of non-equivalent foreign programs.
