On February 20, events dedicated to the birthday of the former chairman of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR, Lieutenant General Jumabek Asankulovich Asankulov, were held at the Academy of the State National Security Committee (GKNB), as reported by the GKNB press service.

As part of the event, a book titled "A Word on the Military Valor of the Red Commander" was presented by retired Colonel Kabayev Mazalbek Ezengeldievich.

Among the participants were scholars from the National Academy of Sciences, veteran KGB officers, relatives of the author, faculty members, students and cadets of the GKNB Academy, as well as conscript soldiers.

Jumabek Asankulov, born on February 20, 1927, in the village of Keper-Aryk in the Moscow District of Chui Region, served in the state security organs from September 1946 until August 1991. His career spans from a junior operative officer to the head of the KGB of the Kyrgyz SSR, making him the first national head of security organs in the republic. For his outstanding achievements in ensuring state security, he was awarded several state honors. After retiring, he became one of the founders of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.

Asankulov headed the KGB of the republic from 1967 to 1978 and again from 1989 to 1991.

Kabayev's book is dedicated to Arstanaly Osmonbekov, the first commander of the Kyrgyz cavalry division in the Fergana Valley, who was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for his combat achievements.

The book describes the heroism of the soldiers of the Red Army who served from 1918 to 1925. The documentary and biographical essay about the Red Commander has significant historical importance. The Red Army soldiers fought against banditry, protected the civilian population, built schools, and actively participated in the creation of collective farms, which played an important role in the formation of the Kara-Kyrgyz Autonomous Region, marking the beginning of the path to the sovereignty of the Kyrgyz Republic.
