Deputy Mahabat Mavlyanova voiced the idea of the necessity to construct a new, modernized heat and power plant to combat the smog problem. This statement was made by her on March 9 at a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, which deals with issues of agricultural policy, water resources, ecology, and environmental protection.

During the meeting, the committee heard a report on the activities of the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision for the year 2025.

The deputy noted that the main cause of air pollution is the burning of coal; however, with the onset of spring, this problem temporarily leaves the public's attention.

“Over the past few years, a significant amount of funds has been spent on repairing the existing heat and power plant, but this has not provided a systemic solution to the air pollution problem. Coal and its combustion remain the primary source of smog. It is necessary to attract investors for the construction of a new heat and power plant that will be equipped with modern filters and emission cleaning equipment. Previously, tens of millions of dollars were allocated for the repair of the heat and power plant, while the construction of a new station will require about 250 million dollars. It is important to consider this issue comprehensively and avoid the dispersion of funds. We must propose to investors to build a new heat and power plant with modern filters,” emphasized Mavlyanova.

In addition, she suggested creating favorable conditions for investors, including the possibility of providing land plots and other incentives for implementing such initiatives.

In the deputy's opinion, the application of targeted measures, such as installing filters or using small stoves, will not fundamentally change the situation with smog, so it is necessary to seek more large-scale solutions.
