State Anti-Monopoly Service: We will fine for price increases in cafes

The agency will investigate complaints about public catering establishments

The Chairman of the Anti-Monopoly Regulation Service, Zhenaly Orozbaev, stated in an interview with "Kabar" that establishments that have raised prices on their dishes may be fined.

Since the beginning of this year, charging a service fee, which previously ranged from 10-15%, has been prohibited in the country. However, as reported by citizens, there has been a sharp increase in prices for dishes in cafes and restaurants following this change.

“Consumers report that some establishments have included the previously canceled service fee in the price of their dishes. Based on consumer protection legislation, we have the authority to conduct oversight. We will carry out inspections, and violators will face penalties in accordance with the law,” Orozbaev noted.

Fines for underweight goods, reduced portion sizes, or misleading customers amount to 16,500 soms for individuals and 51,000 soms for legal entities.

If goods are sold at a price exceeding the stated amount, the fine will be 30,000 soms for individuals and 15,000 soms for legal entities. Similar fines also apply for the absence of price tags in the national currency.
