Cafes and restaurants to be checked due to complaints about rising prices – Antimonopoly Service

In connection with the rise in prices for dishes in restaurants and cafes, punitive measures are expected. This was announced by Zhenaly Orozbaev, chairman of the Antimonopoly Regulation Service, in an interview with the Kabar agency.

According to him, as of January 1, a new regulation has come into effect in the country, abolishing service charges in public catering establishments. Currently, complaints are being received from customers.

Some establishments, as reported by citizens, have begun to include this charge in the cost of dishes, which has caused dissatisfaction.

Orozbaev noted that according to the consumer protection law, special control is provided. A plan for inspections has been developed, under which regular inspections of all cafes and restaurants will be carried out. In case of violations, offenders may be fined. For example, if a portion of a dish turns out to be smaller than indicated on the menu, this will be considered a violation of trade rules and will result in a fine.

He added that the Antimonopoly Regulation Service will closely monitor all public catering establishments. In case of complaints from customers, unscheduled inspections may occur, while scheduled inspections will be conducted with prior notification of business owners.

“Citizens can now better understand what they are paying for. In accordance with the new regulation, the service will continue to carry out monitoring activities,” concluded Zhenaly Orozbaev.
