Citizens are increasingly choosing Europe, Qatar, and Japan
In light of the growing demand for labor resources, the government of Tajikistan has intensified its efforts to find new labor migration opportunities for its citizens in European and Asian countries. Labor Minister Soleha Kholmakhamadzoda announced on Friday the signing of a memorandum with Benelux and the start of negotiations with Japan and the United Kingdom.
Although Russia remains the primary destination for Tajik migrants (1.2 million people entered the country in 2022 over 9 months), there is a noticeable decline in this figure.
At the same time, remittances from abroad, which reached a record 45.4% of the country's GDP in 2024, increased by 50% at the beginning of 2025.
The new strategy of Dushanbe aims to develop sectors such as agriculture, construction, and medicine in developed countries, while the government is also working on expanding the domestic market, having created about 280,000 new jobs last year.
