At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh held on February 11, Bakyt Torobaev, the Deputy Prime Minister, announced that the rates for irrigation water will not be increased this year. He emphasized that there has previously been a lack of necessary discipline in the field of water resources, both in monitoring and accounting.

According to the minister, 50% of the established rates are allocated for channel cleaning, equipment renewal, and pump installation. The remaining 50% goes to the salaries of murabs and workers at pumping stations. Previously, their salary was 5,000 soms, but after support from farmers, it was increased to 12,000-18,000 soms. "This year we do not plan to raise rates, but we will implement proper regulation. Next year, we hope to collect 800 million soms," he added.

The minister also noted that the low rates in the republic do not conceal the existing problems in this area.
